    The events begin…

The Autocross took place on October 1, 2009 at a military helipad a few miles from the main hotel. It was a fast track and the faster drivers were coming in around 50 seconds. No matter what time, everyone had fun. Especially this driver and her wonderful car. These pictures are from the morning session, attended by perhaps 100 cars. There was also a second session after lunch.

This is Jane Higley, driving a 1932 Southern Cross. The Union Jack helmet was a nice touch too.

Here is a yellow TR3 running the course. It seemed a big, fast course to me. Faster drivers had plenty of squealing tyres.

Followed by this white TR3 that has just reached the finish line and is receiving his time from an official. It looks like someone forgot to bring a few sections of leg for the timekeeper’s canopy.

Cars lined up, waiting for their start flag.

    The four fastest times were:

    Andy Packard M4 43.21
    Steve Glusman M5 46.21
    Mike Bilyk S4 47.23
    Phil Ethier S4 47.43

Other events coincided with the afternoon Autcross: Le Mans start and the Funkhana. The Funkhana first half of the course was driven by a blindfolded driver, guided by the co-pilot, slaloming three cones and the second half was driven backwards, slaloming cones while the co-pilot balanced a cup of water on a spoon, held by the tip of the handle. For the married couples, the men driving blindfolded seemed the most anxious.

The day finished with a welcome hospitality party that everyone enjoyed.
